The Harris is a leading blended museum, art gallery and library, welcoming over 350,000 visitors a year.   The Harris reopened in September 2025, following a multi-million pound refurbishment.  The art gallery/museum offers a collection of ceramics, history, fashion and textiles, glass, art and a 13,000 year old elk among it's attractions.  Another of its attractions is the longest Foucault pendulum in the UK @ 35 metres. The pendulum shows the rotation of the earth and takes 30 hours to complete a full 360° turn.

When we visit, the Harris Open Exhibition will be on - works by Preston based artists. Among the other galleries there is an exhibition by Edwin Williams of colourised old photographs.  There will be a one hour talk by a curator.

We start the day with coffee and tea on arrival. There will be a buffet lunch with sandwiches, tray bakes and tea/coffee.
