Sadly the group is currently at capacity and unable to accept new members. We are limited by the space in the meeting room at the library and the need to have a suitably sized group to enable everyone to take part in the discussion. However, we are planning to set up a second group to which everyone on the waiting list will be invited. Please contact the group leader if you would like to be included on the waiting.list.
The Reading Group meets at OLDHAM LIBRARY once a month, on the first Friday of the month in the afternoon.
We read books chosen and provided by the library reading group service. This means we read a wide range of authors and genres, sometimes reading books we wouldn’t have chosen ourselves; some we love, some we don’t like and some we don’t finish. We aim to include all members in the discussion, starting the meeting with each member saying briefly what they thought of the book and then going on to discuss it more fully. The discussion often becomes more wide-ranging than the plot, the characters, and the writing, covering issues raised in the book, the broader background, and our own relevant experiences.
What we all share is a love of reading. To contact the Group Leader click on Val K. and send a message.
