This group is for people who are interested in learning about birds in the open. We meet on a monthly basis and visit bird reserves where we focus on identification and bird song. Also, we give some Natural History regarding the species.

A small group from birdwatching visited Audenshaw Reservoirs on Friday with Roy, a very kind, extremely knowledgeable birder. He takes us a couple of times a year and this time we had sunshine and warmth! Roy also gives us information about the reservoirs and their history and current state. There are 3 reservoirs, we walk round No. 1 res which is only partially filled due to subsistence. The pipeline to this reservoir usually comes from Haweswater in the Lake District but is not active at the moment. We saw a good variety of birds over about 2.5 hours with the help of Roy's scope and will be looking to arranging another visit in March 2026.
