The Group meets on the 3rd Friday of each month from 10.30 am to 12.30 pm at The Honeywell Centre, Ashton Road, Hathershaw, Oldham OL8 3BP.
New members are welcome: just come along to a meeting. Cost: £4 per session, including tea/coffee.
We are interested in crime, criminals and criminal behaviour. We do not follow a rigid curriculum - our subjects are determined by the interests of the group members. Our meetings usually begin with a presentation by a group member and continue with discussion including all the members. There is no pressure on members to make presentations.
During the last year we have considered several cases including the Lady in the lake case from Cumbria; and the case of the girl making false accusations of grooming by several men in Barrow. We have had talks from a serving probation officer and a talk from Dr Ruth Tully a consultant criminal psychologist who has appeared on BBC Radio 4 as an expert. By contrast some members presented a play and other members had to identify the murderer. Most of us got it wrong. We also enjoyed an interesting visit the Museum of Justice in Nottingham.
If you are interested just come along to our meeting. We hope you will enjoy it but if it is not for you there is no obligation to come again.
