On Saturday September 19th the Manchester Geological Association will be holding an Introduction to Geology event.
As with the previous event, and a successful course at this year’s NW u3a Summer School, it is aimed at the amateur geologist, both the established amateur and those totally new to the subject.
It will be held at the University of Manchester Williamson Building, 176 Oxford Rd, Manchester M13 9QQ.
There is no charge for the event and there will be complimentary refreshments.

Getting there- Free parking at the back of the Grand.
Local and Regional buses stop outside on Lord Street
Southport u3a members will collect visitors from Southport Train Station or 10-minute walk(Please advise if you need collecting from the station and provide mobile number)

Our Treasurer Kevin has been working tirelessly in the background to{whilst on holiday in France) ensure that the u3a in Oldham doesn't fold. National Office have given him permission to co-opt 3 people to ensure that the meetings are quorate. However as one of the surviving members was already co-opted this means that Kevin could only co opt 2 .
Out of the others that have applied for committee through nominations they will be elected at October's AGM.
Although we have had 6 people who have come forward to be nominated for committee life this still is not enough. Ideally we need 12 members on the committee and so far once nominations are complete we will have 9.
If you have been on the committee recently and have resigned you cannot be be re-elected until a year has passed.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Come forward and help please!!! Out of all our members and there are 670 of us surely there are a few who would like to give the committee a helping hand.
